One did it in 4.5 hours, which means he is a stud, and the other did it with her 2 month old child in a sling around her chest, which means she is way more gnar than me. I would love to have had time for the bristlecones. Going nearer to the summer solstice rather than the winter solstice may afford such side trips! My last time up was in 2005, and I remember exactly that log and the narrows on the way up.<br /><br />BTW if you ever go back (it's lovely- and easy- in May) there is a really great bristlecone pine forest up there. When you get to the saddle/drop-off, just go right instead of left, and contour around at the same level. You'll be there in 5-10 minutes.
