From Wildflowers to Cacti

Did an the awesome 23 mile loop with Drew and Carl S. on Friday.  We starting at 9 AM (really, me riding by 9 AM!) at PCMR, up Crescent Mine Grade to Shadow Lake to Puke Hill and Wasatch Crest then Crest Connector to Robs and Ambush to Canyons and back on the pavement.  The flowers are pretty near their peak now I guess. It was grand.

Then Saturday we loaded up the cats in the Honda

and headed to Moab for a couple of nights.  Had to make sure the place was still standing after a busy spring and summer rental season.  We managed to get out on an evening ride last night.  We dodged some serious-looking thunderstorms to ride Sovereign Singletrack and Salt Wash.  Everybody else must have been scared away by the thunder and lightning, because we had then entire trail to ourselves.  The light was gorgeous and the temperature was perfect.  We had so much fun!

Drew has posed at this overlook so many times because I'm always trying to get the perfect shot of the outstanding jointing displayed on the Navajo Sandstone behind him.  Guess he thought the picture needed something more interesting than joints in rocks.

 Salt Wash is fun technical.
Like I said, the light on the red rock was breathtaking.

Drew was posing for a beer commercial in his head I think.
Time for me to clown around. You can't see it but there is a cliff to my right.
What a great trip.
