AWG Silent Auction and Wine Tasting

April was time once again for the annual Association for Women Geoscientists Silent Auction and Wine Tasting Benefit.

Our Salt Lake Chapter raises money for three sizable scholarships to college women pursuing degrees in the geosciences.
(Thanks to Mike V. for some of these pictures. )
This year we were at a new venue - the top floor of the Zion's Bank building, from which we could see the entire valley.

It's fun. We get to socialize with colleagues and friends,
and bid on donated items of geologic interest.  I wound up going home with some new treasures (rock specimens that Drew threatens to put outside) and beautiful jewelry made by my friend April.

And there is plenty of wine to taste.

I was less involved in the planning and preparation this year than in past years, but I still volunteered to help most of the night.  Drew was a volunteer bartender again,

so he didn't get to socialize as much as he likes either.  Consequently, the evening flew by and I forgot to take a picture of us all dressed up like Mom requested.  This is for you, Mom.

Dang, that fireplace is so nice, it makes us look like slobs.
